You Control What You Create

You Control What You Create

Every day we are faced with challenges, and with each, we choose how we respond. The power of choice is where creation or surrender lies. You can create what you want or fold to what is happening to you. Your decision to always work on feeling better could be your most powerful response to where you are in life.

When you become more aware of how you respond to experiences, you can shift your actions from surviving toward creating. Rather than following the typical reactive patterns that cause you to behave like a victim, you can now be mindful and transform old habits into new ones that build the life you want. You have to shift from the “Why is this happening to me” mentality to the “What can I learn from this” mindset.

To do this, you must first find the courage to look at some of the disempowering, often unconscious patterns that cause you to play the victim role. It is always easier to blame someone else for where we are rather than take an honest look at ourselves. Creators feel no need to blame anyone because they know that whatever happens, they have a choice in the matter. When you take control of your options, you empower the creator within yourself.

We have all played the victim and creator at various points in our lives. Don’t think of being a victim a lousy word; everyone has been there. You can take your control back by empowering what you create. You don’t always have to know what you want to build; you only have to start choosing to be happy.

No one is perfect. We have all made and will continue to make mistakes or questionable choices in our lives. When we fail, there is no need to blame ourselves or anyone else. When you don’t make the best choice, accept it, work to understand it, then try to do better the next time. By acknowledging it is only a missed take, not a permanent error, you learn and then allow the future to be great with more informed choices. Storms are a natural part of life; they can bring the rain needed for emotional and spiritual growth. We may not have control over the ‘bricks’ life throws at us, but we do have control over what we build.

Until next time.
