Be More Self-First

Be More Self-First

Your main job every day is to be self-first, not to be mistaken with selfish. Self-first means intentionally choosing the right vibrations or emotions that serve your well-being. We know that this is not always possible, as some days it may feel like everything is showing up to challenge your happiness. Welcome the distractions because what diverts your attention is reminding you that you always have choices. Distractions are not always bad; they can help you define what you don’t want and clarify what you want.

The next time you face a situation that feels unsettling, here are two tips on how to change your perspective and potential outcome.

Define what you do want.

No one likes to feel negative emotions. When you do, we want you to take a moment to look at the situation differently. This might help you move past it faster and find the purpose. Consider moments of frustration as defining moments. Defining what you want gives you something to work toward creating. When you get a new desire, goal, or dream, it will make you feel good. It reminds you that you are a creator, and you can have what you want. It is now up to you to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want. Use a setback to keep sifting, sorting, and refining your desires.

Develop new thoughts.

When you get upset or bothered, identify the thoughts or beliefs that may not be serving you. A belief is a thought you continue to think. Remember, you can always change a belief. When you have an episode that creates emotional turmoil, take a moment to identify the thought fueling your feelings. Be aware that situations today may be influenced by experiences of the past. Find a way to work on shedding those beliefs and create new ones that better serve you.

Every day you can choose to focus on the thoughts you want to think. You can decide which thoughts you want to think. You can determine the feelings you want to feel.

Remember, you are always in control of your choices.

Until next time.
